If we didn't have the services, the client wouldn't be able to stay in his home. They also try to find us substitute care that also meets our needs.

    In the past two weeks, we have experienced a lot of problems. We went from minimal care (8hrs) to full 24-hour care. They have been having a hard time filling all 24 hours. Somebody left the freezer open and we lost $200 worth of food yesterday. I still have to clean the lint in the driver. Certain things I expect to be taken care of are not. I will give them more time to get things corrected.

    I like that the caregiver we have is older and can relate to my dad a little better than someone younger. The caregiver prepares meals for him. He is eating a lot better and has actually gained some weight.

    It's easy because they actually have somebody show up without interviewing me first. They are always covered. They help the most because when I first came home, they got me off the floor when I fell a couple of times. When I was better, they are very careful to watch where I'm going with my walker, so I felt safe.

    When we wanted to not have someone back, that was okay and the communication has been okay. They have a variety of people to send out. Initially, I think it was days 3 and 4 they sent out a trainer for home care helpers. She was good and taught us a few things. She was personable. Everyone that comes into your home brings a new, different attitude and technique.

    I have one home helper. I am a big woman and I think I might be too much for her. It is just one of the home helpers who I like a lot and is a nice woman and I am a large woman myself and she has health problems of her own and I don't want to do anything to hurt her.

There were a couple of instances where we had trouble with rearranging the scheduling last minute, but nothing major. It was a very difficult time and we only had about 15 hours a week, but I felt everyone tried very hard to help Lola.
