When our caregiver came, it was around lunch time so he would make sure the meals on wheels would drop off the food and make sure the client was eating. They would converse with him back and forth, even though he doesn't converse very well. They kept him entertained. The client really liked the person that came and helped him. With new people, he gets kind of anxious, but they know what to do and what to say to calm him down. It was great. When some of us still work, it makes it a lot easier and less stressful on the family members when someone else can be there to take care of some of the basic things that we need help with.
